The Donna Perry Memorial Venetian Aquatic Club Swim Scholarship

The Sonia Dallas Learn to Swim Scholarship

On May 31, 2015, Donna Perry, who served as the first president of the Venetian Aquatic Club from 1959 to 1961, was honored when our scholarship fund was named after her.

​

On May 31, 2022, Sonia Dallas, who served as the Water Safety Chair of the Venetian Aquatic Club from 1985 to 2021, was honored by the City of Coral Gables with the naming of their annual contribution of swimming lessons after her.  

​

We thank the City of Coral Gables  and the Coral Gables Woman's Club for their continued support. If you would like to contribute to our scholarship fund, please contact our treasurer at venetianaquaticclub@gmail.com.

 

Eligibility and Application

​

We have a limited number of swim scholarships available for children and adults every summer.  Scholarships are awarded to those in need of financial assistance.  We encourage previous scholarship recipients to reapply in order to continue receiving swimming lessons until level 3 proficiency is achieved. 

​

To be considered for a scholarship, a child must:

    1) Be at least 5 years old at the start of the session. A birth certificate must be presented.

    2) Be a beginner swimmer (Learn-to-Swim levels 1-3). See Lessons page.

    3) Commit to a full two-week session. See Lessons page.

    4) Provide own transportation, and

    5) Provide proof of financial need (participation in free or reduced school lunch program, SNAP or Medicaid).
